My Journey to Counseling
I always have had a passion for helping others, which has taken many forms throughout my development. Early on, I enjoyed teaching roles such as being an assistant horseback riding instructor and soccer coach. My experience developed into mentoring at-risk youth throughout college, where I saw how helping relationships can transform lives and impact communities around us.
After college graduation and a short time in the business world, I found myself longing for that purposeful work I had found in my earlier years. I spent time taking additional college psychology courses including Biological Psychology and Abnormal Psychology, which led me to become even more fascinated by the connection that our experiences, minds, and bodies, plays into our interaction with our environment. After shadowing a few different careers and experiencing impactful counseling as a client, I knew I was meant to pursue a career in counseling.
My Approach to Counseling
I believe that you are the master and owner of your journey. You have all the tools and resources within yourself to heal, and I’m here to help you access them so you can live a full and vibrant life. Everyone has a story and inherent worth, but sometimes we can get lost along the way. I aim to foster a helping relationship built on unconditional positive regard, compassion, non-judgement, and authenticity. I love collaborating with clients to find creative and evidence-based solutions that work for you. My trauma-informed approach blends concepts from Person-Centered Theory, Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Expressive Art Therapy and mindfulness.
