My Journey to Becoming a Counselor
My journey to becoming a counselor includes a consistent passion for helping others, which has included various roles throughout my early career. Early on, I enjoyed working as a swim instructor to infants and school-aged children, as well as a camp counselor. My experience
further developed into studying Early Childhood Education at my undergraduate program in Wisconsin. I absolutely loved education, so I stepped into a path that led me to becoming a teacher for three years, teaching grades anywhere from 3rd grade to Preschool. Working not only with children, but with families as well, allowed me to see how impactful human connection and support can have on others and their lives! This experience exposed me to how impacted the mental health of children can be, and the want to help more, outside of the classroom. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
I grew up in Golden, Colorado and have spent the majority of my life enjoying time outdoors! I love feeling the connection to nature that takes place when outside, as well as connecting to my adventurous spirit. My early career as well as the outdoors has led me towards pursuing a career in counseling. I look forward to the opportunity of helping aid the growth of strength, healing, and support that takes place within the counseling room.
My Approach to Counseling
As a counselor, I have a very person and client centered approach. I believe that we all have lived experiences that are meant to be shared and understood. I strongly believe that healing and
growth take place when the person feels authentic, safe, and trusting within their environment. I aim to foster a counseling relationship in which is built upon trust and unconditional positive regard. In practice, I love to work alongside you, in which positive and healing collaboration can take place. This includes techniques within the realms of Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, mindfulness, and experiential activities. I believe that counseling is a journey, where I walk with you as we work towards wholeness, wellness, and healing.
